January 2026
At the end of January, our Health & Wellbeing Faculty, in partnership with Developing the Young Workforce (DYW), hosted a Health, Wellbeing and Fitness Careers Showcase.
The aim of the event was to help learners understand the wide range of career opportunities available within the Health & Wellbeing sector and to explore the different pathways that can lead into these roles.
S4 learners were welcomed with an inspiring opening talk from former Irish Rugby Union player Mark Blair and current Edinburgh Rugby player Robert Carmichael, who shared their experiences and career journeys.
All S4 learners, along with some S5 and S6 learners, then had the opportunity to engage directly with a wide range of employers and organisations. Visitors spoke openly about their current roles, previous employment, and the routes they took into their careers, helping learners make meaningful connections between classroom learning and real-world opportunities.
Opportunities like this are vital in helping learners see how the skills and knowledge they develop in school apply beyond the classroom and support them in making informed decisions about their future. Our visitors were incredibly generous with their time and insights, and learners also benefited from advice on further and higher education pathways from local universities.
We'd like to say a hue thanks you to everyone involved ...Â
