The Higher Modern Studies class attended First Minister Questions and had an education session with MSPs that represent them, including Christine Graeme and Craig Hoy. The students were able to put their questions to the MSPs about the workings of the Scottish Parliament and how well MSPs can hold the Scottish Government to account.
First Minister's Questions are booked again for September of this year for the new Higher Modern Studies students
The NPA Legal Studies class had a session with one the Sheriff Clerk's who discussed the workings of the Sheriff Court. The class had some time in an empty courtroom, which allowed them to reenact the various legal personnel roles within the court room. The class then attended the closing arguments of a historic child abuse case - involving nuns from Midlothian. The class then visited Edinburgh High Court and were able to sit in and watch the proceedings of a murder trial.
A Sheriff Court visit is planned for later next session for the new Legal Studies class.
