June 2026
As part of their weekly literacy lesson, S1 pupils are challenged to “Read for the Future”. This involves reading and responding to as many different books - fiction and information – as possible, between August and May.
This year our S1 pupils have reported back on over 1322 books in many different ways.
They have discussed their reading with others (both in school and at home) and produced huge numbers of individual responses to the books they have read. These range from thoughtful handwritten and online book reports, colourful comic strip creations, insightful character fact files and beautifully redesigned book covers.
S1 has achieved 427 Worlds of Reading world credit stickers. (A world sticker is awarded for three personal responses from a pupil.)
73 of these were part of the “World of Movers and Shakers”, where pupils read about inspirational people who have changed the World in different and positive ways. As always, we are very grateful to Ms Carrie, PT RME for working on this with us.
This year, 74 Bronze (2 Worlds) and 39 Silver (4 Worlds) Read for the Future certificates were awarded.
In addition, the following pupils were presented with their Gold and Advanced Explorer certificates at the Languages Faculty’s annual “Celebration of Reading” on Wednesday 17th June 26.
