March 2026
We would like to say a HUGE thank you to our fantastic S6 learners who have been supporting S1 and S2 learners across a range of subjects this year.
The S6 Support for Learning programme is highly valued by staff, learners and parents alike, and plays an important role in enhancing the learning experience of our younger pupils.
We hope our S6 learners have found this to be a rewarding opportunity and feel a real sense of achievement from their contribution. Their commitment, positive attitude and willingness to help others make a meaningful difference every day.
Here’s what some of our staff have to say about the fantastic contribution of our S6 learners:
Eilidh L has been an amazing asset to our S2 science class, helping out every Monday since the start of the year and often coming up in free periods to assist as well. She has amazing patience and shows a true passion for helping the pupils she works with. She has been caring, kind and passionate towards the class, helping with behaviour, reading/writing and taking part in experiments. I will be gutted during study leave to lose her.
Eilidh, you would make an amazing teacher in future, definitely something to keep on your radar!
Max E has been amazing in S2 maths. He has been really reliable at attending and is always a huge asset when he is in the room. He has shown good initiative and has been brilliant at engaging with all pupils and encouraging them to get going with the work. He has been a really positive influence on many of the pupils and has helped others really build their confidence by working 1:1 with them.
Thank you so much for all the help Max!
Finlay E has been a great help this year with my S1 Music class. He has been able to use his musical skills to assist pupils in the class. He has been reliable and a great asset. I have enjoyed Finlay being able to work 1:1 with pupils, especially during our drum kit unit as he is a drummer himself! The pupils have been inspired by his ability and has been able to showcase his talent to the class.
Thank you for all your help this year Finlay and good luck for the future!
Frazer C has been a massive help in Literacy this year. He deals with all the book loans and renewals so I can be out and about with the S1. He is supportive and kind, doing great spoken reports with the whole class, as well as quietly helping some of the less confident pupils with their book reports, boosting their confidence no end.
It has been an absolute pleasure working with you this session, Frazer - good luck in the Future!
Rebecca K was a great help in S2 during the first half of the year and her diligence, patience and reliability was a tremendous help in a mixed ability class. I was able to rely on Rebecca to work with individuals in the English base to help them catch up, consolidate understanding or sit an assessment. This was a great help to me and she was a valuable asset.
I was sorry that she was unable to continue to support due to other commitments post Christmas.
It has been fantastic having Kieran T and Ryan M supporting my two S2 classes on a Friday. They have been able to apply their knowledge from Higher Computing Science and NPA Games Development to support the work our S2 learners are doing.
The S2 classes have really benefited from their help — particularly with debugging errors and explaining concepts in clear, simple terms. I have also greatly appreciated the extra pairs of hands and eyes in the classroom, especially when supporting learners through the challenges that naturally arise when building knowledge and skills in Computing Science.
I wish you both all the very best for the future, and I will say again — you would both make excellent Computing Science teachers.
Lewis I has spent a significant amount of time supporting the Design & Technology department this year. He regularly attends his scheduled in-class support sessions, but also volunteers to help additional classes when he is not timetabled elsewhere.
Lewis is an excellent support, particularly during practical lessons. Thanks to his strong subject knowledge, he is able to assist S1 learners confidently and independently, and is always willing to get involved. He has shown a genuine passion for the subject and is committed to helping younger learners succeed. His consistent positivity and encouragement have helped motivate many pupils.
In addition, Lewis supports the smooth running of lessons by helping to set up materials and tidy away tools and equipment at the end of classes. He is also always willing to assist Mr Scott whenever needed.
