What do we mean by revision?
Revision is the processing of helping your brain to retrieve knowledge and understanding from previous learning. When we are asked a question, our brain makes connections to other knowledge. By asking that question over and over again the connection is stronger and it makes it easier to remember!
Revision is not just something that happens before an Assessment or an Exam is should be on-going throughout the year, but may fluctuate inline with assessments and exams.
In this page we've pulled together a Revision Techniques and Resources to help ...
One effective way to structure revision is the Pomodoro Technique, which helps maintain concentration and reduce distractions:
Pick a task to revise
Set a timer for 25 minutes
Work on the task until the timer ends
Take a 5-minute break
Repeat this cycle 4 times
After four sessions, take a longer break (15–30 minutes)
This approach helps you stay focused while avoiding burnout.
Interleaving involves mixing up topics within the same subject when studying. This is the opposite of blocking, which is fully covering one topic before moving on to the next. This graphic opposite is an example of the difference between the two.
Check out the video below for more information on how to use Interleaving and the benefits it can have to your revision.
